CANADIAN PROGRAM RECOGNITION : |

Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications (CRTC) regulations make it necessary to complete the attached “Application for Canadian Program Recognition” in order for your program to be considered Canadian. Please find attached a blank copy of the form for your use, if applicable.
Important Note: Vision TV will not schedule any new Canadian program during our broadcast day without a current Canadian recognition number from the CRTC.
The approved application will give your program a “C” Number deeming it Canadian by the CRTC. VisionTV will not recognize your program as Canadian unless it has this “C” number. You will need to re-apply annually as the “C” Number only recognizes a single series or broadcast year.
In defining a Canadian program, the Commission utilizes a points system and specific information about the Certification requirements can be found on the Internet at http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Notices/2000/PB2000-42.htm, while general information can be obtained at http://www.crtc.gc.ca/canrec/eng/canrec.htm. Alternatively, information and copies of the application may be obtained by calling the CRTC at 1-877-249-CRTC (2782). An application as well as an outline of the points system and the certification regulations is attached.
Please note that the Canadian Certification application form is used for all live action programs seeking Canadian recognition, whether small, one-time programs, or large, big budget series. For this reason, not all aspects of the application may apply to your program. Please complete the application in full – if a section does not apply write “N/A” (Not Applicable) in that section. For information and assistance with regard to the completion of the application, please refer to the attached notes and/or contact the CRTC directly.
Recognizing that the production elements of a series of programs may vary and that some of the episodes, if considered individually, could fall below the minimum requirements of the points system, the CRTC will examine a series in its entirety and may grant it recognition if, on an overall average, it meets the minimum requirements.
We ask that you keep VisionTV informed by copying us on all correspondence with the CRTC concerning the certification of your program.
