A DIVERSE HUMAN RESOURCES

VisionTV's dedication to diversity is evident in its policies and practices, and has been recognized by many other organizations across Canada.

Human Resources: Policies and Practices
VisionTV has developed a Corporate Plan for Cultural Diversity that reflects its ongoing commitment to diversity as a core value.

The VisionTV Human Resources department is dedicated to facilitating fair and equitable treatment for all employees through effective guidance, accurate information and suitable development opportunities. Encouraging and maintaining respect for diversity is integral to management training and strategy.

As part of the effort to enhance its relationships with diverse communities, VisionTV sponsors and participates in events such as the annual Innoversity Creative Summit, a broadcast industry job fair and conference that focuses on the themes of diversity and innovation.

VisionTV is currently committed to creating opportunities for Aboriginal Canadians. Its recruitment processes include close contact with representatives from organizations such as the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network and the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation.

Diversity in Broadcasting Internship
In 2004, VisionTV partnered with Women in Film and Television – Toronto (WIFT-T) to create the VisionTV Diversity in Broadcasting Internship. This initiative seeks to give promising female broadcast journalists from visible minority or Aboriginal backgrounds an opportunity to further their careers. The first internship was awarded to Momona HaileMariam, who joined the 360 Vision production team as a paid intern and was honoured at the WIFT-T Crystal Awards Industry Gala.

Strategic Alliance of Broadcasters for Aboriginal Reflection
As an active member of the Strategic Alliance of Broadcasters for Aboriginal Reflection (SABAR), VisionTV supports the creation of a network between Aboriginal communities and the broadcast industry, and the development of strategies to increase Aboriginal participation in the television and radio professions. Since SABAR was established in 2003, VisionTV has participated in a number of community events, including job fairs at the Native Canadian Centre in Toronto and the Aboriginal Festival at the Rogers Centre.
