Jozi-H, the critically acclaimed Canadian-South African medical drama, joins the VisionTV lineup in May. The Gemini Award-nominated series airs on Tuesday nights, starting May 13, at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT. Jozi-H delves into the personal and professional lives of an international team of doctors and nurses working in Johannesburg Metropolitan’s renowned trauma department. Drawn from South Africa, Canada, the U.S. and Britain, these dedicated healers confront the sometimes violent reality of the post-apartheid era, while operating at the very front line of Africa’s HIV/AIDS crisis. Vincent Walsh (Hemingway vs. Callaghan, ReGenesis) stars as Dr. Russ Monsour, a gifted neurosurgeon grappling with the fallout from a failed marriage and a deeply conflicted relationship with his First Nations heritage. Sarah Allen (M.V.P.) plays Dr. Jenny Langford, a young Canadian paediatric surgeon who is drawn unexpectedly into a passionate affair with a charismatic AIDS activist. South African actors Tumisho Masha, Thami Ngubeni and Neil McCarthy also star, along with American Billoah Greene. Jozi-H was co-produced by Canada’s Inner City Films and South Africa’s Morula Pictures For more information on VisionTV’s comedy and drama programming, please visit www.visiontv.ca. |
