Classic sci-fi drama Quantum Leap joins VisionTV lineup May 13

Sam Beckett is lost in time.

Trapped in the past by an experiment gone wrong, Sam bounces from one year to another, always into the lives of others. Is it all just an accident – or does he have a destiny to fulfill?

That’s the ingenious premise of the classic sci-fi series Quantum Leap, which joins the VisionTV drama lineup in May.

The Emmy Award-winning series airs on Tuesdays, starting May 13, at 9 p.m. and Midnight ET / 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET.

Scott Bakula (American Beauty, Enterprise) stars as maverick genius Sam Beckett, creator of the top-secret time travel project known as Quantum Leap. With the project’s funding at risk, Sam decides to put his theories to the test: he steps into the accelerator chamber – and leaps backward in time.

The technology works! Sam can leap into any person’s life, at any point within his own lifetime. There are just a couple of little problems. Sam can’t predict where he’s going to land next. And he can’t figure out how to get back home again.

Sam’s only link to the present is Albert, the Quantum Leap project observer, played by the Dean Stockwell (Blue Velvet, Battlestar Galactica).  Appearing as a hologram visible only to Sam, the eccentric Albert does his best to offer help and advice.

No matter whose life he enters – whether a test pilot, a concert pianist or a pregnant teen – Sam discovers wrongs that need to be put right.  Albert gradually begins to suspect that a higher power is working through Sam to help change the world for the better, one life at a time.

Is it a curse to be wandering through time? Or is it, for Sam, the ultimate gift: the chance to grow in compassion by walking, literally, in another person’s shoes?

Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell both earned a Golden Globe and four Emmy Award nominations for their work on Quantum Leap.

The show’s many notable guest stars include Jennifer Aniston (Friends), Teri Hatcher and Marcia Cross (Desperate Housewives), Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother), Eriq La Salle (ER) and Brooke Shields (Lipstick Jungle).
